Summer of 71
Mood:  happy
Now Playing: In Search of Keith Partridge

It was the summer of 72, when I read in our local paper that David & the PF would be filming for a week in Cincinnati OH at the Kings Island Amusement park. We set out on Aug. 4 for the first day of filming.
After wandering around for a while, we came upon the Monster (aka Octopus), my favorite ride. I got in line, & was the third one to get on, when it was shut down. A platform with a camera was placed across one of the seats, & David was lifted in, an embarrassed look on his face. Not knowing if audio was picked up as the ride started, I yelled out “Have fun KEITH”.
After that part was over & David was lifted out again, we caught Danny & David heading for the Roller Coaster.
We caught glimpses of the cast throughout the day (Shirley was seen heading for the guess your weight booth with “Ain’t She Sweet” played on the loud-speaker.)
Finally, we were getting tire & thinking of going home.. We were heading towards the front gate, when we saw the platform in front of the Eiffel Tower getting set up for a concert. Their stand-ins were there while they checked out the lights, & the producers were talking to the people selected to stand in front (I wondered how I could be one of them). Then came my chance. A girl they tested the lights on disappeared into the crowd. A search went out- does anyone have a white top & dark pants or skirt? I had a dark dress, but my sister had disappeared into the crowd with my white sweater.
After doing the song, “Girl You Make My Day” a few times (David was looking in my direction when he was singing over the bear’s shoulder), they went back to the trailers. Susan went first, then David came, & I shouted out, “David you did a good job.” He yelled back “thanks” over his shoulder, although I knew he didn’t know who he was talking to.
I must have blacked out after that, because the next thing I knew, dad was nudging me & asking me why I didn’t move when Shirley needed to get by me. I didn’t feel a thing, but there she was, smiling at me from the trailer window.
When the show finally aired, I had a viewing party to see if I could pick myself out of the crowd!

Now Playing: My meeting with
Topic: An EFX Encounter
I thought I'd make this blog a little different, as it will cover my encounters with the Cassidy family through the years.
Here's a brief synopisis of EFX, which I had seen several times through it's Run:
The 4 Spirits (Laughter, Magic, Time & Spirits, come on, looking for someone who has lost their imagination. Enter David, as a busboy, who has no time for them. They introduce him to the memories of his childhood, & send him back in time to play Arthur, with the Master of Magic. There he encounters Merlin & Morgana & fights a fire-breathing dragon.
Enter the Spirit of Laughter, who takes him back to play "The Greatest Showman in the Universe," surrounded by extra-terrestial circus acts. There he encounters "Laura," a former girlfriend, who is kidnapped while he is singing.
Spirt of Spirits takes him back to play Houdini, who also lost the love of his life through lack of time & attention. A David performs several acts, Then sings "Tonight" to Houdini's wife.
Finally, thoughts turn back to Laura, & the Master of Time turns him into HG Wells, to travel forward in time. During the travel sequence, a 3-D film is shown, showing the time machine being whipped around. He battles Morlocks with the help of a futuristic young couple & brings Laura back to the current time with the help of the time machine.
They finally appear on stage to the finale, where David presents Laura with a rose & she's escorted back to her seat.
The last two times I saw the show were my favorites, because I actually felt like part of the show! I was lucky enough to get the same the VIP seat for two shows that night, where David, as "The Greatest Showman In the Universe" usually goes to "interview" audience members before he meets "Laura". Well, I was in the midst of moving between CA & OH & back, so I decided to have a little fun.
Through the Fan Club, David knew a lot about me, including my name & where I live. So when he got to me, he asked me what my name was.
"Cheryl"
"And Where are you from, Cheryl?"
"I Don't know."
Shocked & confused look."What do you mean you don't know where you're from?"
"Well, right now, I"m in one place, but in a few weeks, I"ll be somewhere else, then I"m moving to a third place. So I don't know where I'm from."
A sly look & ironic voice: "Cheryl, like so many of us, doesn't know where she is."
When I returned to my same seat for the second show, I expected to be glossed over, as he'd already given me my attention, so I was shocked when he came up & asked me my name again, & even more surprized when, as he asked "And where Are you from?" he had a "leading" tone to his voice, as if he was giving me a cue to say the same thing. There was also a cock to his head like he was leading me on. We got an even bigger laugh for the second show!
Coming up, my Kings Island adventure from 1972!
